The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a not-for-profit environmental research organization dedicated
to improving public health and protecting the environment by reducing pollution in air, water and food. The
goal of EWG’s research is to turn raw data into usable information. Our researchers unearth large databases
from state and federal government agencies and other sources. Then, using their considerable computer
hardware, software, and database management expertise, EWG analysts sift through the databases to

Beyond Pesticides began in 1981 as the National Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides, a non-profit
membership organization that was formed to serve as a national network committed to pesticide safety and
the adoption of alternative pest management strategies which reduce or eliminate a dependency on toxic
chemicals.

Since 1987, Toxics Action Center has helped more than 400 neighborhood groups across New England fight

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods. BIRC has worked with local, state, and national agencies in
